A NEW GENRE IN PUBLIC ART EDUCATION
August 3, 2020
A NEW GENRE IN PUBLIC ART EDUCATION moves art education in and out of the institutional structure to address social and political issues. Whether about ecology of nature, first responders, or the local community the work of art education is resilient in that it seeks to raise awareness, encourage conversations and actions, and improves physical or psychological conditions.
UF art education students continue to explore the boundary between the known and the unknown in art education research, as well as professional commitment, community engagement for young people and the arts. A few to highlight:
- Laina Briedis: Art Nature Connection
- Krysten Lopez: Wayfaring Painter-RAD DOLLS
- Francesca Levy: How -To: Do What You Love and Change the World, (Grit Girls Feature)
- Hillary Frambes: Chalk Art Portfolio
